- Natalie has started studying toward her equine massage therapist qualification. Part of it is horse industry studies, including riding. She has been taking Allie to TAFE (tertiary and further education I think it stands for) and Als has been a CHAMP! Being in a mass group lesson with about 12 other horses, with deer in the next paddock running around, tractors driving past. She acts like one of the school horses. So proud of her. :)
- Took Allie to some pony club grounds last Sat. Nat was at the beach so I went with some friends. Again, champ of a horse was calm, eager to please, jumped logs, cantered big circles, listened and was a general good citizen.
- Then last Sunday, Nat and I volunteered at the cross country and the show jumping for the eventing at Sydney International Equestrian Centre. We drove the morning tea golf buggy to all the jump judges, then we WERE jump judges, then we were gate marshals for the show jumping, all 3*. Got me really motivated to get going with Allie! So.much.fun.
- Kittens are doing well. They are 3 weeks today, fluffy and adorable. I have some videos on my phone that I will share when I have a spare half hour. They are HARD WORK! Need to be fed every 6 hours, so I have been racing home on my lunch break and getting up at 2am for feeds. Their cuteness makes it worth it.
That is about it! Still heaps of rain, Gracie hasn't had much work but Nat rode her yesterday and she went well. Last day of summer today. We have been ripped off. Not looking forward to stupid wet cold winter.

Surprise!
We were cleaning out our hay stable and we found a litter of flea ridden kittens!
They are about 10 days old. I couldn't just put them back (needed to throw out the box their mother birthed them in, spiders and snakes made me worry, didn't want them growing up to be even more feral cats around my place etc etc plus they are CUTE!) so we took them down to the vets. They need 2 hourly bottle feeding, and a couple seem to have cat flu. Because of this, the vets said they would have trouble finding foster carers and would probably have them PTS.
Bleeding heart over here has taken them on. So now I am the proud mother of 6 baby kittens. Wish me luck!

A little celebratory post.
I have to post about this and my facebook friends must be so sick of hearing about it.
As of tomorrow, I have been busting my arse trying to loose weight and get fitter for a little over one month. So far, I have lost 7 kilos, which is a little over 15 pounds. I have never lost weight before, as I'm pretty lazy and LOVE sugar and junk food. I HATE running and have always just eaten wherever I want.
So, I am really proud and I'm pretty sure Allie appreciates the lighter weight too! My goal is to loose a total of 18 kilos (39 pounds) to get right smack bang in the middle of the healthy weight range, so I have a bit to go yet, but I'm getting there!

Not So Crazy Afterall...
We ended up having a fantastic ride!!
We took the horses up to Mulgoa (where I went with Linda). As we were leaving a storm was passing us (wide) but we caught quite a bit of rain on the 20 minute drive up to the national park.
When we got there, we took the girls off, put their rugs on them, and then took refuge in the float waiting to see if the patch of blue sky would come our way. 15 minutes later, it did so we tacked up and set off!
We mainly walked, and there was plenty of water around but no mud as it is rocky and sandy up there. We rode to the lookout and back. Gracie was very well behaved considering she has not been ridden in weeks. Allie was good too.
Anyway, I'm just glad we persevered because it was a lovely way to round out the week.
