One Thing I Hate About Summer

Bloody snakes.

I hate to say it, but that is one reason that I am hesitant to visit Australia. I believe your continent has more than it's share of venomous snakes.

I am guessing that is the common brown? Common, but not welcome, I assume.

We only have too poisonous snakes in New Jersey and they are both reclusive.

Val, yes the common eastern brown snake. Fairly aggressive that one. We had a baby one last year and this is the first brown this year. I spent 4 hours clearing out the stables and hay so there was no where for it to hide last night. I'm exhausted.

But please don't put off visiting Australia just because of snakes and spiders - I've lived here my whole life and have not really had a run in with either a spider or a snake (knock on wood!). I just make sure to keep rugs and piles of hay off the ground (which I hadn't cleaned up in a week or so and we had mice so that attracted the snake) and I keep my grass mowed short. I do stress about snakes though, but I'm on a rural property.

AHHHHHHH! So scary. You guys have eight or nine of the ten most venomous snakes in the world. I would be constantly terrified.
