Herman

This is Herman. Named after our wonderful vet who took such good care of Chakra.

We are keeping him. :)

Ignore me... it is morning ok!

Gulp

So I finally got off my bum, bit the bullet, got on with it and entered Allie and I into a prelim dressage test.

So we are going to compete at Clarendon on the 22nd April, doing the prelim 1A test.

I finally got in to have another lesson with Ann on the 30th of this month, so hopefully she sets me on the right path. Then hopefully I will get in to see her again before the test.

Wish me luck!!

P.s. Allie won't eat her grain at camp, and will only nibble her hay. Little witch pony, make me worry.

Camp

Allie and Natalie are away at TAFE camp at the moment. 4 days at Sydney International Equestrian Centre.

They are doing a bunch of stuff - dressage, cross country, vaulting, show jumping, blah blah blah. I'm super jealous and I already miss my pony!

It's just me and Gracie for the week. I'm going to work with her a few times, see if I can get her to focus without Allie there to distract her. Wish me luck!

Crap.

Andrew and I got some shitty news today - the owners of the property we rent want to sell.

Shit shit shit.

I REALLY do not want to move. We are super happy here! There are safe stables and fencing! It's not too far to work for either of us! Plus pets are allowed here.

We have not got enough savings for a house deposit, so there will be no buying for us any time soon.

Just when we got comfy. Gah.

This little naughty is refusing to eat except from the bottle.

She is so cute (and squirmy!) though.

Passion

I picked up two extra trimming clients yesterday. Andrew came with me for one of my regular trims to watch. After, someone else asked if I had time to trim their horse too. Of course I said yes.

I'm a talker when I trim. I like to give a little mini lesson to the owner if they are curious about it. Most people love to hear about their horse, but I need to be mindful that I don't give an information overload!

Andrew said he was proud of me. It has been a long time since he has seen me trim. I don't think he had ever seen me trim a client horse actually.

When I trim, I feel like I am doing exactly what I was meant to do with my life. Help horses, help owners. It is like a passion within a passion, the crazy hoof girl who looks at a horse's feet before it's face when she meets it.

I just wanted to share my little business growth over the weekend, how it made me feel (content and happy). This morning, I'm off to trim three more! Then ride this afternoon. Life is good.

Don't you love tack sales?

Horseland had their annual clearance sale last weekend. I have only been once before but this year I had a few spare dollars so Nat and I went along.

It was in a big warehouse. When we walked in I had no idea where to start! We came up with a strategy so we wouldn't miss any tables and off we went. It took us about an hour and a half from one end to the other.

We mostly bought clothes for us - I got a pair of cream jods, Nat got some brown stickybums (we are both proud to be a size smaller too!!). New medicine boots for Allie, jodphur boots for both of us, nice brown leather gaiters for Nat. Cheap vet wrap, gauze, Elastoplast. Riding tops and little reflective bands for their halters for when they are in the float. All at least 40% off.

It was so much fun getting home and trying it all on and putting it away! I love horsey sales.
